May Madness and School Stress

Hello all my fellow gamers and non-gamers out there. this is the gaming guru, here once again to keep you in the know on all things gaming. The semester is getting ready to come to a close, and I have to say that this was a very interesting first year for me. I will definitely be glad to have a break from school. I'm sure that the rest of you students out there are feeling the same way too. Until that last day comes along though, lets do our best to stick together and finish the school year out right. Now, lets get to the news on gaming.

The month of May does have some interesting games to arrive with it. Some games I never really knew much about, but there are a few that caught my eye, one being an addition to the Resident Evil franchise. The next game to arrive is called Resident Evil: Revelations.

I personally haven't played much of the resident evil series, but what I have heard about the game tells me this game is going to be pretty good. As you play as the two main characters, Jill and Parker, the main object of the game is to stay alive. The layout of the game changes up a bit however, because this time the they are stranded on a boat. With the many different abominations lurking around every corner, and a slim chance of survival this game definitely gives thrill-seeking players what they crave. The storyline is said to be interesting as well. I wouldn't recommend the game to kids under a certain age, but for anyone who has an interest in this series of games, and was slightly disappointed by the last game, Resident Evil 6, this game is scheduled to arrive May 21 for the PC, PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360.

The next game I want to bring up is known by many as a classic. Everyone's favorite Ape in the brown fur is back in Donkey Kong Country returns for the 3DS

Donkey Kong has always been a popular character ever since his first appearance in the arcardes with Mario, and now Nintendo has re-made the Donkey Kong Country Game for the 3ds. Donkey Kong has always been a popular character ever since his first debut in the arcade with Mario. Since then he has been seen in other Nintendo based games as well like Mario Party, Super Mario Bros., etc. The game has new challenges for the simian with the power punch.  New puzzles and new monsters are seen as well. The game seems to be fun for all ages and is worth trying out when it arrives on May 24th.

The last game is complete news to me, but it seemed interesting at first to look into. The game Metro: Last Light seems to be what could be considered a mix between Call of Duty, and Dead Space. The game has a mix of the what both games have to offer and seems pretty good overall. Take a look at this video to see a small taste as to what the game is about.

The game actually seems pretty good. Although I don't think I will be pursuing the game myself, definitely feel free to check the game out if it piques your curiosity enough. You can also check out more about the game through this link here. The game is scheduled to arrive May 14th.

That's about it for the newer games on my radar for the next month. I'd probably say that about covers this post for now. I felt a bit strange letting this post come so close to the post of this week, but as long as I get each post in, that's what matters the most. Hope everyone is doing well in their studies so far with only a few short weeks to go. Stay strong, and do your best to stay focused. Until next time.

Taking a Glance at Gaming's Past

Hello all my fellow gamers and non gamers out there. This is the Game Guru again, always here to keep you guys in the know as to what the gaming world has to offer. This has definitely been a pretty strange week so far, with the weather starting to take a turn for the warm. It looks as if we are starting to get a taste of that summer heat, huh. Boy does mother nature have a strange sense of humor. Overall though I'm just glad it hasn't been too bad of a week. But anyway, let's get down to business.

As I had mentioned near the beginning of this blog, one of the things that I would plan to do is game reviews. When I say this though, I don't mean what I normally have been doing. It's time to take a look at some games that have already been released for a change. For this part of the blog, I'm simply going to call it, Back Track the Classics. How this will work is each time I do this, I will pick one or a few games that I have either recently played, or have played before, and give you my thoughts about the game. Sounds simple enough right? Before we get to the games though, I will say ahead of time that these reviews are my own personal thoughts about the games so its understandable if anyone doesn't fully agree with what I will say. Ok, with that out of the way, lets get down to it, shall we?

This first game I want to take a look at is Custom Robo for the Gamecube

For those who don't know much about the game, Here's a little bit about it. You control the main character that lives in the world of Robo Battles. Through the use of holo-technology, people from all over are able to battle using these robotic battle suits. Players are able to customize their robo with different weapons and parts to have their own style of battling. WHen it comes to my experience with the game, the one thing that I like the most about it is the variety the customization adds to the game. It gives players a chance to try out different things, so as to see what their personal style of battling is like, which attracts the interest of the gamer just a bit more. I have loved playing this game for a while and encourage anyone interesting in trying the game out to go for it. Custom Robo is one of those games that is definitely worth your while.

The next, and last game I want to look into has a bit more to do with sports, specifically the game of soccer. Now I'm sure that when I say this, a fair decent amount of you may be thinking that when I say this I'm talking about FIFA. But on the contrary, I am taking things to somewhere a bit less realistic. Another one of my favorite classic games that is also for the Nintendo Gamecube is Super Mario Strikers.

For all of those Mario world fans out there, Mario and the gang enter the world of soccer like you have never seen them before. As the video puts it, its like Mario Kart meets Soccer. The game is fun to play and has been a highlight of my gaming life from the first time I picked it up. Although I don't have any problems with regular soccer, I personally feel this game is a bit more fun. One aspect of the game that I like the most about it is the competitiveness the game brings out, while still maintaining its fun animated theme about it. The game is fun to play and pretty easy to start into. Anyone willing to try the game out, I encourage you to. You'll be surprised at how fun the game can really be.

Well, that's about it for today's Back Track of the Classics. Stay tuned for the next back track when I talk about some games with a bit more action oriented focus. Also, if there are any questions you guys might have, or anything you may want to be seen covered on this blog, feel free to leave a comment with your feedback. I love to know what you guys have on your mind about games and I will do my best to share with you my thoughts as well.

Until next time, definitely be careful with how the weather has been lately. If it is pretty bad out like how it is here, try to stay cool, and stay inside. This is the game guru, signing off.

Hello, all you gamers and non-gamers out there. This is the game guru, keeping you guys up to speed on what today's gaming world has to offer. I always tend to feel amazed at how far the gaming world has come. It's a wide-ranging, action packed, mystery filled, epic adventure where anything imaginable is possible. I know for some people, this gaming world can become a bit too much to grasp all at once. But if we can learn to take it one step at a time, enjoying games and all their glory can be a fun experience for anyone.

I know that starting things off this way seems a bit out of the ordinary, but I just felt lead to do things this way. I may not be one of the most hardcore gamers out there, but if there is one thing that I have learned about games in my previous years, its that games impact the lives of their players. I'm sure many of you know this already, so without further ado...

Lets get started with today's gaming insight.

As we all know, yesterday was the beginning of April. I'm sure many of you are curious as to what is to be released this new month.

After doing a bit a research, I unfortunately have to say that there weren't many new games of interest that I have seen, but I am a bit curious about a few games planning to be released. One of them I was the most surprised about was word of Star Trek being released as a video game.

As we all know from previous movie related games such as Finding Nemo, Up, Shark Tale, and many other movies, most movies usually have some sort of video game created. To find out that the newer version of the movie was also the next target of a game transition was surprising enough. The game doesn't look all too bad though. The game is planning to release near the end of April on the 26th for the XBox, PS3 and PC. For anyone who is a Star Trek Fan, this game may pique your interest as well. You can also find out more about the game here.

There are a few other games to be released this month as well, but out of the ones I saw, Star Trek was the main one to jump out at me. Some of the other games to be released that I can slightly mention however are Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, and Defiance. Everything else seems so-so in my own opinion, but for those who think otherwise, to each their own.

Although this post is being cut shorter than usual, don't be too worried. There will be more to come from my next posts. But, until then, this is the game guru, signing off.
